Discover a pristine example of late 19th-century European porcelain craftsmanship with this long, lidded dresser or trinket box by Rosenthal. Crafted using the company’s celebrated, heavily scalloped "Versailles" blank, this piece features a fluidly contoured rectangular body that catches light elegantly.
The entire surface of the lid serves as a canvas for a panoramic, hand-painted Dutch landscape executed in a monochromatic blue-and-white Delftware style. The central focal point is a traditional Dutch windmill flanked by local figures, docked sailboats, a historic village church, and rolling water. The lower basin of the box is beautifully accented with subtle, softly airbrushed blue cloud motifs that track along the curved scalloped walls.
The underside bears the authentic under-glaze green "R.C. Versailles" crown backstamp confirming a production date between 1891 and 1906. A wonderful addition for collectors of antique German porcelain, Delft style decor, or an elegant coastal vanity display.
