A beautifully crafted Chinese huali (rosewood) trinket box, built as a sliding-lid treasure box in the traditional scholar's-study style. The warm, grain-rich wood is paired with five semi-precious stone cabochons set in ornate brass filigree bezels across the front: two dark green hardstones, one large oval carnelian-red center stone, and two turquoise matrix stones, arranged in a balanced flower-like composition.
The box opens via a smooth horizontal slide, revealing a compact interior well suited for rings, earrings, cufflinks, beads, or small desk treasures. Dovetail-style joinery is visible at the corners, and the wood carries a warm, aged patina from years of handling.
A handsome decorative piece for a dresser, console, or bookshelf — equally at home as an ethnic accent in a Chinoiserie, bohemian, or collected-eclectic interior.
