With our highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques proudly offers this wonderful antique revolving bookcase. Any home with a library or office could benefit from having one of these highly functional and space saving bookcases as they have remained the optimal storage solution for collections of books since they first appeared towards the end of the 19th century. John Danner and Co. produced the first line of these revolving bookcases at the end of the Victorian period and before they could enjoy the short span of time where the copyright prevented duplication copies of their design began to spring up all across the country. The obvious benefits and practicality this design affords essentially makes it the perfect piece of furniture for any room in the home that might house a large quantity of books, magazines, or any other printed media.
This bookcase is constructed from a wonderful selection of walnut and finished in a beautiful honey amber finish. There are three compartmented storage tiers which divide the collection of books stored on each shelf into four spaces. The bookcase can rotate in either direction and the writing on the spine of each book is made clearly visible by how the books are presented upon each shelf. The top of the bookcase has a finely molded edge and features the most walnut grain visible throughout the entire piece. The entire piece is in excellent condition and absolutely illuminates when exposed to even a moderate amount of daylight. Four molded vertical sticks are applied to each side as to help secure the collection of books housed inside the bookcase.
This bookcase measures 24" long x 24" wide x 46" tall. The top two tiers allow for usable dimensions measuring 13 1/2" long x 7 1/2" wide x 11" tall. The lowest tier allows for a 12" tall book to be placed on the shelf.
