This set features the months of January, July, September and November. Each exploding, lavish bouquet is displayed in an ornate classical vase showcasing flowers that bloom during that specific month. Published in London in 1730, The Twelve Months of Flowers is recognized as the first illustrated seed and plant catalog produced in England. Robert Furber was a prominent nurseryman in Kensington who commissioned Flemish still-life and nature painter Pieter Casteels to paint the original oil-on-canvas arrangements. Master engraver Henry Fletcher transformed Casteels' paintings into twelve detailed, hand-colored copperplate engravings to complete a uniquely collaborated foundational masterpiece of botanical art. All are equipped with hardware for hanging. See less
