Oval and rectangular pieces of pearly shell are pressed into a creamy plaster ground in an irregular, cobblestone-like pattern, each with its own size and soft curve. The shell glows in warm ivory, blush, and pale champagne, with cloudy mother-of-pearl swirls, faint gray-taupe flecks, and a gentle satin luster. The plaster between them is chalky and white, with hand-troweled hollows that frame each piece like grout and give the surface real depth. The form swells at the center and gently narrows toward the shoulder, where a slim brass stem rises to a nickel-toned socket with a turn knob and harp holder. The brass has a mellow, lightly tarnished tone that warms the cool palette. The surface shows a soft, aged patina, and the handmade irregularity gives the lamp an organic, collected character.
