The figure is depicted in a dynamic, standing pose with its wings spread wide, holding a serpent (naga) in its beak and claws. It has a fierce, expressive face with bulging eyes, a sharp beak, and prominent horns, with dark-painted hair. The body is adorned with an elaborate beaded necklace and a red sash draped over its shoulders. The Garuda stands triumphantly upon a prostrate figure, which rests on a lotus base painted in green and gold. The sculpture is extensively gilded, retaining a bright, warm gold luster with a rich, aged patina in the recesses.
