This is a finely crafted antique gilt bronze sculpture of the Zhenwu Emperor (also known as the Dark Warrior), a powerful and revered deity in Taoism. The figure is depicted seated in a commanding pose upon an ornate throne with dragon-head armrests. He wears elaborate, detailed armor with scale patterns, and a long, flowing beard. His hands are positioned to hold a sword across his lap, and a small mythical beast, possibly a tortoise or dragon-turtle, is depicted at his feet. The sculpture is extensively gilded, retaining a bright, warm gold luster with a natural, aged patina in the recesses that highlights the intricate casting and engraved details. The front of the base features a rectangular panel with an inscription identifying the deity.
