This is a finely crafted antique glass sculpture of Shakyamuni Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. The figure is depicted seated in the lotus position (padmasana) upon a double-lotus base. The body is made of a creamy white, opaque glass with a subtle, aged patina, while the exposed skin and robes are accented with gold gilding. The Buddha features a serene expression, downcast eyes, and a prominent ushnisha (cranial bump) covered in tight, gilded curls. His right hand is extended downward in the earth-touching mudra (bhumisparsha), while his left hand rests in his lap holding a small, gilded vase. The base is formed from a double-lotus throne with gilded petals. The underside of the base bears an engraved seal mark.
