This is a substantial antique polychrome bronze sculpture of Guan Gong (also known as Guan Yu), a revered historical general and deity in traditional Asian culture, symbolizing loyalty, righteousness, and courage. The figure is depicted standing in a commanding pose upon a base formed from swirling, gilt-bronze clouds. He has a fierce, gilded face with dramatic black eyebrows, a red mouth, and a long black beard. He wears elaborate military attire, including a green robe with a central gilt dragon motif, intricate scale-patterned armor on the shoulders and chest, and a helmet with a tall finial and flowing red ribbons. In his right hand, he holds his iconic weapon, a guandao (halberd), with a silver-toned, dragon-engraved blade.
