The body is richly decorated in cloisonné enamel on a deep blue ground, adorned with vibrant, multi-colored floral motifs and scrolling vine patterns in shades of white, red, yellow, and green. The tall, slender stem and the flared, circular base continue the same intricate floral design. The top is fitted with a domed, gilt-bronze lid pierced with stylized, openwork scroll motifs for incense smoke to escape. The interior of the censer is finished in smooth, patinated brass, and the base is finished with a flat, gilt-bronze rim. The enamel surface is glossy and shows the characteristic fine wirework of the cloisonné technique, with the gilding exhibiting a warm, aged patina.
