The rooster's body is decorated in vibrant cloisonné enamel on a deep red ground, featuring intricate, multi-colored floral and scrolling vine motifs in shades of yellow, blue, green, and white. The neck and chest are rendered in a yellow, feather-like pattern, while a section of the wing features a textured, scale-like gilt bronze panel. The figure features applied gilt bronze details for its comb, beak, legs, and the elaborate, flame-like tail feathers. It stands on a domed, gilt-bronze base modeled as a rocky outcrop.
