An exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver calling card case crafted by Birmingham silversmiths Crisford & Norris, dating to 1909.
This beautifully detailed English silver case features an elaborate repoussé-style composition depicting a majestic stag standing in a picturesque landscape, accompanied by smaller deer, distant mountains, and birds in flight. Intricate scrolling foliage, floral ornamentation, and latticework surround the scene, creating a richly textured and dimensional surface.
The reverse is equally impressive, featuring elaborate foliate scrollwork surrounding a smooth, unengraved cartouche.
Fully hallmarked for Birmingham sterling silver, the case bears the maker's mark C&N for Crisford & Norris, the Birmingham anchor assay mark, the lion passant sterling silver mark, and the lowercase “k” date letter, corresponding to the 1909–1910 assay year.
Crisford & Norris were established Birmingham silversmiths known for finely crafted silver accessories and decorative personal objects. This example reflects the ornamental sophistication of Edwardian silverwork and the enduring popularity of sporting and wildlife motifs in British decorative arts.
Originally intended to carry calling cards, the case is now a charming collectible object, suitable for display in a curated collection of antique silver, English country accessories, or decorative objects of vertu.

The interior exhibits substantial brownish discoloration, tarnish, and uneven patination, particularly in recessed areas. These areas have not been aggressively polished.
The exterior cartouche remains blank and has not been professionally monogrammed. Lightly hand-scratched initials, appearing to read “NX,” are present along the interior rim and appear to have been added by a previous owner.
