This is a substantial antique cloisonné enamel censer (incense burner), featuring a rounded, globular body supported on four legs. The body is richly decorated in cloisonné enamel on a yellow-ochre ground, adorned with intricate, multi-colored floral and scrolling cloud motifs in shades of red, green, blue, and white. The sides feature ornate gilt-bronze handles with suspended ring details. The piece is topped with a finely cast, dark-patinated bronze lid in the form of a mythical beast, likely a Pixiu, with a detailed, snarling face and flowing mane, and pierced openings for incense smoke to escape. The interior of the censer is finished in patinated metal, and the underside of the base bears a cast seal mark.

The enamel surface shows minor surface scratches and some slight wear in the recessed areas, revealing the metal base in tiny spots. The gilding on the body and handles has faded and worn naturally over time. The bronze lid exhibits a rich, dark patina. The piece is structurally sound with no major dents or repairs. Please refer to the photos for a detailed view of the finish and condition. less
