The rooster's body is richly decorated in vibrant cloisonné enamel on a deep red ground, featuring intricate, multi-colored floral motifs and scrolling vine patterns in shades of yellow, blue, green, and white. A section of the wing and the breast are rendered with a yellow, scale-like texture, framed by black and white zigzag banding. The figure features applied gilt bronze details for its prominent comb, wattle, beak, legs, and the elaborate, sweeping tail feathers. It stands on a circular cloisonné base with a turquoise ground decorated with floral motifs, finished with a gilt-bronze rim. The piece exhibits a rich, aged patina with the enamel showing minor wear and the gilding displaying a warm luster.
