Stolen, the AP39 lounge chair is part of the Kastrup Airport collection, a series of Danish modern seating designs developed around a refined balance of comfort and structural simplicity. The chair features an upholstered seat and back supported by a slender steel framework, with carefully considered proportions and an understated architectural profile. Its restrained construction reflects Wegner's ability to create comfortable seating without unnecessary bulk.

Hans J. Wegner was a Danish furniture designer and one of the central figures of the Danish Modern movement. Born in Tønder, Denmark, in 1914, he trained as a cabinetmaker before studying at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts. His early work included collaborations with architects Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller, followed by the establishment of his own design studio in 1943. Over the course of his career, Wegner designed more than 500 chairs, including the Wishbone Chair, the Round Chair, and the Peacock Chair. His work is distinguished by an understanding of materials, thoughtful construction, and an emphasis on comfort and function. While best known for his work in wood, Wegner also explored upholstered seating and metal frameworks, as seen in the AP39 and AP41 Kastrup designs for A.P. Stolen. Wegner's furniture remains an important part of Danish design history, with examples represented in major museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
