A pair of original vintage gelatin silver photographs depicting Sophia Loren (b. 1934) during the production of the 1966 espionage comedy Arabesque, directed by Stanley Donen and co-starring Gregory Peck. The photographs were taken by noted set photographer Norman Grigspeerdt, whose work documented many major European and Hollywood productions during the 1960s. The first photograph captures Loren walking along a seaside location in an elegant geometric-patterned dress while shaded by a crew member holding a large umbrella, illustrating the behind-the-scenes glamour of a location shoot. The second presents a more intimate portrait of Loren leaning in the doorway of a production trailer, dressed in a glossy raincoat with a silk scarf and cigarette in hand, embodying the sophisticated screen persona for which she became internationally renowned. The reverse of one photograph bears a contemporary handwritten identification reading "ph. Norman Grigspeerdt 'Arabesque' – 1966," together with editorial crop marks, layout arrows, publication annotations, and an Italian editorial stamp for L'Europeo, documenting publication in 1984. These markings confirm the prints' use as working editorial photographs rather than later reproductions. Very good vintage condition with light handling wear, minor corner and edge wear, editorial annotations to the versos, and age toning consistent with working press photographs. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
