Conceived in the spirit of interwar Bauhaus functionalism, this highly elegant and cleanly shaped pair of stools dates from the 1930s in Czechoslovakia. The authorial signature and precise craftsmanship of this exceptional set of furniture bear the hallmark of the renowned Czechoslovak manufacturer Robert Slezák. The primary artistic concept stems from modernist principles of strict utility, optical lightness, and the confident integration of industrial design with maximum user comfort. The architectural structure of both pieces is built upon robust, smoothly bent bases made of chromed tubular steel, carrying generously dimensioned, cleanly shaped seats. The outstanding aesthetic impression is heightened by new professional upholstery in high-quality black leather, which, in combination with the cool luster of the metal, gives the objects an unmistakable dynamic expression.
The items have undergone a complete, highly professional, and sensitive restoration combined with thorough professional cleaning of the metal parts, the revitalization of the polish, and the implementation of new professional upholstery. Experienced restorers have thus successfully restored one hundred percent structural integrity and maximum aesthetic appeal while preserving absolute historical authenticity, subtle patina, and the high collector's value of this unique piece.
Thanks to their renowned modernist origin, prestigious production by Robert Slezák's workshop, and utterly timeless design, this pair of stools serves as a highly exclusive yet fully functional element in a modern interior. They stand out perfectly in a representative living room, a luxury gallery, a spacious minimalist hall, or as a breathtaking design set in a space emphasizing top-tier interwar functionalism. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
