The surfaces are now smooth and even, with no stains or discolouration, and the wood has a lovely warm depth to it. The current photos show it before restoration, new photos of the finished piece are coming soon.
It comes from Poland, 1930s–40s, with a curved front, a stepped base and a small drawer set next to an open shelf, which is very typical of Polish Art Deco furniture.
The best part is the door: the dark walnut veneer is book-matched, so the grain mirrors itself across the front and makes a beautiful pattern. The lighter walnut on the top, sides and base gives it a nice two-tone look.
Inside there's a roomy cupboard, and the drawer is handy for small things. I've fitted ceramic knobs with blue flowers, which add a bit of colour. See less
