This mid-century table from France, designed a refined neoclassical influence, combining architectural form with decorative craftsmanship. The rectangular-shaped top with canted front corners is fitted with a rich embossed leather surface in a warm terracotta-brown tone, accented by a gilt-tooled Greek key style border and fine decorative line work. The table is supported by a central wooden pedestal column with vertical fluted carving, and rests on a decorative plinth base adorned with carved scrolls resembling Ionic volutes, along with a series of carved half-round or gadroon-style motifs that add depth and visual interest. The warm leather tones contrast beautifully with the lighter finished pedestal. Vintage condition with age-appropriate wear, including light surface scratches, minor scuffs, and rubbing to the leather and decorative trim, all consistent with age and use. This mid 20th century French table would be ideal for placement in an entry hall, library, study, or living room-serving beautifully as a statement display surface for artwork, lamps, or decorative objects.
