This antique table from Brazil, crafted with substantial hand-hewn timber construction, features a bold architectural form (resembling an alter-like shape) centered by a deeply molded bombe apron, flanked within flat painted boards that sit against the wall. The richly aged surface displays centuries of wear and patina, enhancing its authenticity and character. The original paintwork combines earthy terracotta red, muted ochre, weathered golds, deep burgundy, and traces of verdigris blue-green, all softened by time into a beautifully layered and nuanced palette, and contrasting against the natural wood top. This 18th century Brazilian table is ideal for use as a statement console in an entry hall, beneath a large mirror in a living room, or as a distinctive focal piece in a dining room topped with pottery, collected objects, or antique lighting. Its strong architectural presence also lends itself beautifully to rustic, Spanish Colonial, Mediterranean, or eclectic interiors where historic character is celebrated. See less
