This rare and authentic antique Turkish Konya rug, dating from the 1920s, is a beautiful example of traditional Central Anatolian prayer rug (Mihrab) design. The field features a warm, madder-red mihrab containing a central "Tree of Life" or stylized floral pillar, topped with a distinctive architectural gable reminiscent of village dwellings. The upper spandrels are rendered in a deep charcoal brown, decorated with vibrant red blossoms that provide a striking contrast to the earthy tones of the lower section.

As an authentic antique piece over a century old, this rug possesses a significant "distressed" character. The hand-spun wool pile has worn down to a very low level, revealing the structural integrity of the weaving and creating a sophisticated, weathered patina. The border consists of a classical repeating geometric chain in cream and red, framing the spiritual composition beautifully. This piece is an exceptional choice for collectors of sacred textiles or for designers seeking a soulful, historically rich accent for a wall hanging or small floor space.
