Chest combines the exotic appeal of bamboo-inspired furniture with figured wood panels and finely turned decorative elements. Each of the three drawers is framed with applied faux-bamboo moldings and fitted with wooden pulls. Substantial faux-bamboo corner posts extend downward to turned feet with metal casters. An unusual hinged side locking panel provides an additional period security feature, designed to secure the drawers when closed. A functional lock and key is provided with chest. The compact proportions and elaborate faux-bamboo decoration give this chest a lighter, more whimsical character than a conventional Victorian chest of drawers, and make these pieces more suitable to bedrooms and dressing rooms. However, this chest is versatile enough to be utilized in almost any room in the home.
In modern interiors, this chest can serve as an entry or foyer chest, between two windows, beside a fireplace, or as an accent piece in a living area. In a bathroom or dressing area, it can provide storage for linens and accessories. This chest will complement Coastal, British Colonial, Traditional, Hollywood Regency, Eclectic, or Grandmillennial interiors. Because faux-bamboo has repeatedly returned to fashion (from Victorian interiors through Hollywood Regency and into Contemporary design) this chest has a surprisingly timeless decorative quality.
