This is a matched pair of antique cloisonné enamel sculptures depicting Pixiu, mythical creatures revered in traditional Asian culture as symbols of wealth and protection. The figures are depicted in a dynamic, striding pose with their heads raised and mouths open in a roar. Each Pixiu features a fierce, detailed gilt-bronze head with prominent horns and a flowing mane, attached to a body richly decorated in vibrant cloisonné enamel on a deep red ground. The bodies are adorned with intricate, multi-colored floral and scrolling vine motifs in shades of blue, green, yellow, and white. The figures have applied gilt-bronze tails, paws, and facial details. The enamel surface is glossy and shows the characteristic fine wirework of the cloisonné technique, with the gilding exhibiting a warm, aged patina.
