Complete your mid-century interior layout with this rare vintage bachelor's chest credenza dresser from the iconic "Sophisticate" collection by Tomlinson Furniture, circa late 1950s. Designed by John Lubberts and Lambert Mulder, this piece showcases the line's signature organic warmth and tailored geometric architecture.
Design & Craftsmanship:
• Premium Wood Composition: Constructed from durable solid pecan framing and legs balanced with beautifully figured golden butternut veneer panels. The top surface displays the line's elegant cross-banded inset border motif.
• Asymmetric Storage Architecture: Features three wide dresser drawers on the left dressed in substantial, sculpted solid brass wing handles. The right side is balanced by three stacked drawers with integrated vertical dividers—perfect for smaller articles or linens.
• Sleek Base: The case rests securely on tapered dowel legs integrated seamlessly into a continuous recessed under-apron frame, achieving a lighter-than-air Danish modern profile.
Provenance & Authenticity:
Completely authentic and verified by the original gold-foil burned "Sophisticate by Tomlinson" insignia directly inside the drawer casing.
Please Note: This piece is structurally rock-solid but exhibits prominent finish loss, primarily focused on the corner posts, and dark spotting where the topcoat has worn thin over the decades. It has been priced dynamically with this wear in mind, making it an exceptional project find for mid-century collectors or restorers.

The solid wood chassis remains incredibly robust, tight, and structurally stable. Every drawer track operates smoothly, and all original hardware is firmly anchored. • Cosmetic Wear Details: The piece shows significant signs of age and finish wear. There is a prominent area of heavy finish peeling running vertically down the right-front corner pillar. Additionally, the clear lacquer finish has thinned or completely worn off along sections of the solid wood vertical framing posts on the left side, leaving the exposed wood grain vulnerable to localized darkening, surface staining, and spotting. The butternut veneer top and drawer fronts exhibit minor, light superficial scratches consistent with age. This is an ideal candidate for a light restoration, sanding, or a full oil refresh to blend out the finish discoloration. less
