This is a captivating pair of antique gilt bronze sculptures depicting two Bodhisattvas, traditionally associated with Manjushri and Samantabhadra, seated upon their respective mythical mounts. The figure on the left is seated on a detailed lion, holding a lotus stem, while the figure on the right is seated on an elephant, also holding a lotus stem. Both deities are adorned with elaborate crowns, flowing robes, and beaded necklaces. They rest upon heavily stylized, swirling cloud-form bases. The bronze exhibits a deep, aged patina with remnants of gold gilding across the faces, chests, and bases. The bottom of one base features a cast seal mark. These pieces would make a wonderful addition to a home altar or an Asian antique collection.
