This piece draws clear aesthetic inspiration from French Modernist furniture designers of the 1930s and 1940s, balancing bold architectural geometries with traditional craftsmanship.

The structure features a square cushion top upholstered in a textured cream or sand-colored fabric. This rests on an inverted pyramid core wrapped in terracotta-red grain leather. Every edge and seam is defined by an unbroken border of continuous, antiqued brass nailhead trim. The structural weight converges down into a primary base pyramid before flaring outward onto a dark mahogany-lacquered solid wood plinth base. The entire unit is supported by heavy, flattened bun feet.

Historically, Baker Furniture utilized this specific geometric hourglass form across a limited run of accent seating and stools, frequently relying on clean, intersecting lines to highlight the quality of their bench-made upholstery work.
