Charles gumery most probably made this bronze during his stay at the villa medici in rome, circa 1860 dimensions: w 7.5 in, d 5.5in, h 16.5in. Dimensions: l 19cm, p 14 cm, h 42cm. Literature : charles-alphonse achille gumery (1827-1871) was a french sculptor, student of armand toussaint at the école des beaux-arts in paris. In 1850, he received the prestigious prix de rome and became a prominent sculptor of the second empire. Highly appreciated, gumery was awarded the legion d'honneur on 29th of june 1867.
