This is a striking pair of vintage Qilin (also known as "Kirin" or Chinese unicorn) statues, crafted from bronze with vibrant cloisonné enamel work. The Qilin is a mythical hooved creature in East Asian culture that symbolizes prosperity, serenity, and good fortune. These figures are depicted in a dynamic, prancing pose with their heads turned slightly toward each other, creating a pleasing symmetrical display.
The bodies are richly enameled in a warm, glossy orange, decorated with intricate, colorful floral scrollwork in red, blue, green, and white. The faces, flowing manes, tails, hooves, and decorative saddle blankets are beautifully gilded, creating a bright contrast against the enamel. The fine wirework (cloisonné) is tight and precise, highlighting the skilled craftsmanship of the piece.
This pair would make an excellent addition to a collection of Asian antiques or as a symbolic, decorative accent on a console table, mantel, or bookshelf.
