This is a finely cast vintage gilt-bronze statue of Green Tara, a beloved female Bodhisattva in Tibetan Buddhism known as the "Mother of Liberation" and a savior who helps overcome fear and danger. The figure is seated in a relaxed, royal posture (lalitasana) upon a double-lotus base, with her right leg extended and resting on a small lotus footrest.
Green Tara is depicted with a serene and gentle expression, downcast eyes, and a slight smile. She wears an elaborate, pierced crown, large circular earrings, and layered beaded necklaces. Her right hand is extended downward in the varada mudra, symbolizing generosity and the granting of boons. Her left hand is raised in the vitarka mudra (teaching gesture), holding the stem of a blue lotus (utpala) that blossoms at her shoulder. The base bears a deeply engraved visvavajra (crossed vajra) motif on the bottom plate, a traditional consecration mark.
The bronze features a bright, rich gilding with a warm, polished patina, with some darker copper tones showing through in the recesses. This is an elegant and spiritually significant piece, perfect for a collector of Himalayan art or as a peaceful focal point in a meditation space or curated home.
