This is a finely cast vintage gilt-bronze statue of Yellow Jambhala, the Buddhist God of Wealth and a popular deity in Himalayan traditions. The figure is seated in a relaxed, royal posture atop a double-lotus base. He is depicted with a rotund belly, a fierce yet benevolent expression with bulging eyes and a wide grin, and an elaborate, flame-like crown.
In his right hand, he holds a bijapuraka (citron) fruit, symbolizing fertility and abundance, while his left hand holds a nakula (mongoose) that disgorges jewels, representing the deity's power to bestow wealth. The statue is richly detailed with intricate beaded jewelry and flowing celestial scarves. The base bears a cross-vajra (visvavajra) motif engraved on the bottom plate, a traditional consecration mark.
The bronze is finished with a bright, heavy gilding that shows a beautiful, warm patina. This piece is an excellent addition for collectors of Buddhist art or those seeking a traditional symbol of prosperity and good fortune for their home or office.
