Original 1960s Avery coin-operated person weighing scale, made in Birmingham, England. These stood in British chemists, grocery shops and railway stations, where customers paid a threepenny bit to check their weight. It’s rarely seen in the US.
It’s fully working. Accuracy seems fine but hasn't been calibrated. The coin slot is marked “insert 3d piece” and the original mechanism operates with a US penny, so anyone can use it.
