Depicting a young woman in a right-facing profile with a sweeping dark ponytail, this expressive female portrait combines crisp contours with softly blended charcoal shading. Carefully modeled features and deep black tones in the hair create a striking contrast against the pale paper, while the lightly suggested shoulders keep the focus on the sitter’s face.

The drawing bears a small artist’s monogram beside the neckline. An embossed Strathmore paper mark is visible at the upper right. Offered unframed, this original work on paper brings texture and individuality to a collection of vintage portrait drawings.

Hopper majored in art at Oklahoma State University and studied under Doel Reed. Her commercial art career included work as a Hallmark illustrator, fashion artwork for TG&Y, and later advertising agency work.
