Published by William Lucas & Co., London, in 1869, the print showcases the intricate engraving techniques of line, stipple, and mezzotint.
After the celebrated English Victorian painter Jerry Barrett, the engraving was executed by P. Stacpoole. This particularly rare, uncolored Artist’s Proof was printed on chine collé paper before the title was added to the lower margin, making it a distinctive example of the original printing process.
The impressive engraving is presented in a handsome antique frame featuring elegant gilt and wood detailing, complementing the regal character of the composition.
