Mintons was among the great English factories of the period, and cabinet plates were its showcase — made to be looked at rather than eaten from, with the painting done individually rather than transferred.

The yellow is the thing. It is a confident, almost acid canary that no later English china quite repeats, and it lifts nine quiet bird studies into something that reads as one piece across a wall or a dresser.

Nine plates, sold as a set. Each measures 9.4 inches in diameter.

Condition: excellent antique condition for their age. Two of the nine show light scratching to the gilt rim; the glaze is intact throughout, with no chips, cracks or restoration. The remaining seven are clean. See less
