Published in London circa 1838, this beautifully detailed work captures the elegance and refinement of British equestrian sporting life.

Artaxerxes, the powerful chestnut stallion in full trot, gracefully pulls a fashionable two-wheeled gig driven by a top-hatted gentleman. A spirited black terrier runs alongside, adding movement and charm to the scene.

The landscape depicts Blackheath, a celebrated English trotting ground during the 1830s, providing a historically meaningful setting for this distinguished sporting horse.
