This striking sculpture depicts a peacock with its tail feathers fully fanned in a classic display pose, a traditional symbol of beauty, dignity, and good fortune. The piece is crafted from colored glaze (liuli) with a smooth, semi-translucent finish. The body is a muted grey-brown, while the magnificent tail feathers are rendered in vibrant shades of red, green, and blue, each tipped with a gilded "eye" motif. The peacock stands atop an integrated base modeled as a rocky outcrop, detailed with applied blue and green scrolling vines and leaves. The underside of the base bears a recessed seal mark. This piece is a fine example of traditional decorative art, combining detailed sculpting with rich polychrome glazing.
