Constructivist Ceramic Vase / Lamp Base by Diane Grant
This one-of-a-kind ceramic sculpture by Diane Grant draws inspiration from Vladimir Tatlin’s visionary design for the 'Monument to the Third International', widely known as Tatlin’s Tower. Conceived in 1919–1920 but never realized, the project remains a defining reference in the history of Constructivism, embodying the avant-garde ambition to unite architecture, engineering, and sculptural form.
Reinterpreting this architectural vision through ceramic, Grant creates a striking vertical composition of ascending planes, projecting elements, and intersecting structural forms. The elongated silhouette evokes the framework of a monumental tower, while the softly textured, ivory-toned surface, punctuated by subtle earthy speckles, introduces a tactile, material quality that contrasts with the rigor of its architectural inspiration.
Balancing sculptural presence with functional potential, the piece can be displayed as an independent ceramic object or adapted as a lamp base. A small opening in the lower section allows for lamp installation. Its architectural character and restrained palette make it particularly suited to modernist, Brutalist, Constructivist, and contemporary interiors, as well as curated collections of studio ceramics and collectible design.
An original, signed work by Diane Grant, dated 2022, the piece is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by the artist.
