This beautifully detailed sculpture depicts a Bodhisattva (likely Manjushri or Green Tara) seated in a meditative lotus position upon a double-lotus base. The figure is finished in a rich, deep green patina, accented with bright gold-gilt details on the face, elaborate crown, jewelry, and the lotus throne. The right arm is raised, holding a symbolic sword (representing the cutting of ignorance), while the left hand holds a delicate lotus stem that supports a sacred text or jewel.
This statue is a captivating example of traditional Buddhist artistry. Weighing over 350 grams, it is a substantial piece that makes a perfect addition to a meditation altar, a Zen-inspired bookshelf, or as a unique focal point in a Chinoiserie interior.
