Vintage French Brass Animal Pen and/or Card Holder.
It depicts a highly detailed and debated bear or dog emerging from the center, with its paws resting forward onto the tray.
The piece is made of heavy cast brass with a curved, trough-like front channel acting as a secure cradle to lay down a fountain pen or display business cards, making it both a practical desk organizer and a decorative statement piece.
