Mid-century industrial floor lamp by Wilmot-Castle, circa 1959. The boom arm is balanced by a solid ball counterweight, letting it pivot up and down and swing freely in all directions. It carries a polished reflector shade with a vented lamp housing and a mechanical control handle at the weighted end of the arm adjusts the shade. The slim pole rises from a heavy round base on industrial casters, keeping the lamp exceptionally sturdy and allowing it to be easily moved. Finished in cool silver with honest, time-worn character.
Wilmot-Castle was known for its hospital and surgical lighting, and this piece carries that functional, purpose-built look. A striking sculptural statement for a loft, studio, or reading corner.
