Large red and blue blossoms on curling green acanthus leaves repeat across an ivory field, inside a border of rolling green leaves and a striped edge of blue, red and lilac. Bright, fresh and unusually bold for an Aubusson.

Hand woven in China, circa 1980. Hand woven in the Aubusson tapestry technique: a flat weave made entirely by hand, colour by colour, the same way carpets were woven in Aubusson, France in the 18th century. 100% wool, with no pile and no latex. Carpets from this workshop carry a label stating they use more than sixty shades of wool and take a team of designers and weavers over a year to complete.

Brand new and never used, yet vintage: it was woven decades ago and is no longer in production. Rare and one of a kind. Hand woven Aubussons of this size and detail are seldom offered. We have exactly one, and when it sells it cannot be reordered.
