An elegant vintage mid-20th-century neoclassical reproduction figurine depicting Hebe, the Greek Goddess of Youth and cupbearer to the Olympian gods. This piece is a reduction based directly on the celebrated 1816 marble masterpiece by famous Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen.
The figure is beautifully executed in unglazed biscuit porcelain (Parian ware), realistically replicating the smooth, velvety matte finish of carved Carrara marble. Hebe is captured in a graceful contrapposto stance, holding her characteristic shallow cup (patera) in her left hand and a pouring vessel down at her side.
Her classic chiton drapery is beautifully detailed - see image, and the figure features a hollow-cast interior base with a single firing vent hole and an incised factory mould code "0" inside the base rim, A sophisticated clean visual accent for Hollywood Regency, classical, or modern eclectic interiors. This piece is designed in the style of the selected designer and/or manufacturer
