Pencil drawing on paper. Hand signed in the lower right corner. Matte, in very good condition. Suzanne Tourte (1904–1979) was a French painter and printmaker celebrated for her lyrical figurative compositions and refined graphic work. A graduate of the École des Arts Décoratifs and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, she was awarded the Prix Blumenthal for engraving in 1932 and exhibited regularly at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Indépendants. Throughout her career, Tourte remained committed to both painting and printmaking, producing works distinguished by their expressive draughtsmanship, architectural clarity, and sensitive treatment of landscape and the human figure. She was appointed Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur and Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in recognition of her contribution to French art. Following her death in 1979, a retrospective exhibition was held at the Galeries Nationales du Grand Palais in Paris, confirming her place among the leading French artists of her generation. Her work combines expressive line, geometric structure, and a deeply poetic vision of landscape and the human figure. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
