Pencil, tempera and watercolor on paper. Not signed. Good condition. Henri Vergé-Sarrat (1880–1966) was a French painter and printmaker celebrated for his landscapes, watercolours, and masterful graphic work. A regular exhibitor at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Tuileries, he travelled extensively throughout France, Spain, North Africa, and Egypt, creating poetic compositions distinguished by refined draughtsmanship, luminous colour, and exceptional technical precision. His graphic work—including etchings, lithographs, and illustrations—was equally significant and earned him the Prix de la Gravure in 1912 and a Gold Medal at the 1937 Exposition Internationale in Paris. He was later appointed Chevalier and subsequently Officier de la Légion d'Honneur in recognition of his contribution to French art. Today, Henri Vergé-Sarrat's works are represented in major public collections, including the Centre Pompidou, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, and are appreciated for their synthesis of lyrical naturalism, technical mastery, and enduring graphic elegance. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
