Created by the celebrated French cartographer Guillaume Delisle in 1703, this later edition was published in Paris by Jean-Claude Dezauche in 1783.

Delisle’s landmark mapping of New France represented a major advancement in the cartography of North America. Based on the best available French exploration and geographic information, the map provides remarkable detail throughout eastern Canada, the Great Lakes, Hudson Bay, Labrador, Newfoundland, and the northern interior of North America.

The map is particularly desirable for its depiction of the Great Lakes and French colonial territories, along with early settlements, waterways, indigenous regions and extensive geographic notation. An elaborate decorative cartouche at upper left adds considerable visual appeal.

Dimensions: 28 x 21 inches; overall mat size 33¼ x 27 inches. Condition: In very good antique condition. Some light foxing, minor paper wrinkling and a visible fold line are present, consistent with the map’s age and original production and binding. See less
