The piece is heavily decorated with cloisonné enamel in a green ground, featuring intricate scrolling floral and cloud motifs in red, orange, yellow, and white. The beast's head, mane, claws, and the vessel's feet are finished in polished, dark bronze with a rich patina. The top section (the beast's head) is removable, revealing a hollow interior. The enamel surface shows a glossy finish with some areas of wear, typical of aged cloisonné work. The piece is solid and heavy, weighing 4500 grams.
