Both figures are depicted in a seated, alert pose with their heads raised and mouths open, displaying prominent manes and fierce expressions. The bodies are decorated with a turquoise-blue enamel ground covered in scrolling floral motifs in red, yellow, purple, and green. The exposed metal parts, including the heads, paws, and stylized tails, are finished in bright gold (gilt).
