This is a cast bronze tripod censer or incense burner, featuring a domed lid topped with a seated deer finial. The lid is decorated with openwork (reticulated) dragon motifs, allowing incense smoke to escape. Two prominent dragon-shaped handles are attached to the sides of the vessel. The body is heavily decorated with intricate, archaic-style motifs, including stylized animal masks (Taotie) and geometric scrollwork, resting on three sturdy cabriole legs. The bronze exhibits a deep, aged patina with extensive green oxidation and reddish-brown tones, characteristic of antique metalwork.
