This elegant vintage Chinese table screen is crafted from rosewood (suanzhi wood), featuring a rich, dark patina and fine wood grain. The piece consists of four hinged panels, each intricately carved with an openwork frieze at the top.
The panels are hand-painted with vibrant, detailed scenes representing the traditional "Four Gentlemen" (Plum Blossom, Orchid, Bamboo, and Chrysanthemum) motifs, accompanied by gilded Chinese characters. The paintings include colorful birds, blossoming branches, and lush foliage, rendered in a palette of reds, greens, pinks, and yellows against the dark wood background.
