This impressive vintage Chinese snuff bottle is crafted from bronze, featuring a unique octagonal (eight-sided) body. The central panel is adorned with a finely cast, gilt (gold) high-relief figure of a deity or immortal, surrounded by a circular frame.
The surrounding octagonal border is decorated with the eight trigrams (Bagua) and corresponding Chinese characters in raised relief, symbolizing balance and cosmic order. The bottle is flanked by two small gilt beast-head handles and is topped with a red stone stopper set in a metal collar. This piece is a fine example of traditional Chinese metalwork and a distinguished addition to any collection of Asian antiques or snuff bottles.
